It’s always a good idea to look what cars James Bond 007 has driven while searching for the perfect car. Here is a list of cars that James Bond 007 drove in the movies.
The complete list of all James Bond cars at the end.
James Bond 007 Movie: Dr No (1962)
It all started with the first ever Bond movie from 1962. He drove a Sunbeam Alpine Series II.
James Bond 007 Movie: From Russia with Love (1963)
In the second movie, From Russia with Love, James Bond drove a Bentley Mark IV.
James Bond 007 Movie: Goldfinger (1964)
When talking about James Bond cars, you have to mention of the icons that first appeared in the third James Bond movie, Goldfinger, they introuduce the Aston Martin DB5 as James Bond’s car. It has ever since been used in many James Bond movies and is one of the most iconic Aston Martin cars ever made.
James Bond 007 Movie: Thunderball (1965)
In the next movie, Thunderball, James Bond 007 continues to use the Aston Martin DB5.
James Bond 007 Movie: You only live twice (1967)
In the move, You only live twice, James Bond 007 goes to Japan. And while on a mission in Japan he drives one of the most beautiful cars ever made, the Toyota 2000 GT. Toyota quickly produced 2 convertibles as the all production models of the Toyotoa 2000 GT where hard tops, and even the production models are very rare as only 351 where produced.
James Bond 007 Movie: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969)
While on a mission in the Swiss Alps in the movie, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Bond 007 drives a 1969 Aston Martin DBS.
James Bond 007 Movie: Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
In the James Bond movie, Diamonds Are Forever, Sean Connery is back as James Bond and drives a 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1. Even if the Ford Mustang Mach 1 is an amazing car, somehow it does not feel like a “real” James Bond car the same way as the Aston Martins and Lotuses do.
James Bond 007 Movie: Live and Let Die (1973)
This is the first James Bond movie with Roger More as Bond. The difference with this movie compared to most other Bond movies, in this Bond does not have a car, well he drives some cars, but he does not have a car filled with gadgets and he really doesn’t even have a car in the movie. So just to be able to have some cars from the movie, here is the 1963 Chevrolet Impala Convertible he drives when he is fleeing from the bad guys.
James Bond 007 Movie: The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
The Man with the Golden Gun has one of the best and coolest car stunts ever seen in movies, no tricks, no computer graphics, just a plain old school stunt where Bond jumps over a bridge rolling the car a full 360 degrees in the air before landing on the other side. The car Bond drives is an 1974 AMC Hornet.
James Bond 007 Movie: The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
The Spy Who Loved Me features one of the all time coolest Bond cars, The 1976 Lotus Esprit S1, and it’s not just any ordinary car, it’s a Lotus Esprit that becomes a submarine which he uses to get away from the bad guys. It’s an amazing looking car and at the same time it has so cool gadgets.
James Bond 007 Movie: Moonraker (1979)
In Moonraker Bond is being driven in a Hispano-Suiza Cabriolet 1936. Amazing movie with a lot of gadgets, but it misses a car with gadgets for James Bond.
James Bond 007 Movie: For Your Eyes Only (1981)
In the Bond movie, For Your Eyes Only, the Lotus Esprit is back, now with a newer model, the Lotus Esprit Turbo 1980. The Lotus Esprit Turbo one of the best car alarms you can imagine, when the bad guys try to smash the sidewindow of the car, it explodes. After the white Lotus Esprit Turbo explodes, Q make another one for Bond, a red one which has a nice ski-rack which James Bond uses to drive to the Italian ski resort Cortina.
And even if it was Melina Havelock’s car and not one of James Bond cars he drives, the Citroën 2CV6 1981 has to be mentioned, because it’s a legend of automotive history, and for it to be in a Bond movie is just cool.
And for me the Lotus Esprit is one of the legends of all James Bond cars.
James Bond 007 Movie: Octopussy (1983)
Octopussy has one of the coolest James Bond movie intros. First James Bond drive with a Range Rover Drophead Convertible pulling a horse trailer and later Bianca, Tina Hudson, drives the Ranger Rover away while Bond reveals the Bede Jet from inside the horse trailer and in 007 style, Bond flyes away. And the intro ends with an amazing scene where Bond lands the Bede Jet on a road, turns up the wings and stops at a gas station and says a legendaric line: Fill her up, please.
James Bond 007 Movie: A View to a Kill (1985)
In A View to a Kill, James Bond doesn’t have his own car that he uses, but he is driven around in a 1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II.
James Bond 007 Movie: The Living Daylights (1987)
This was the first James Bond movie for actor Timothy Dalton and this time Bond gets a sweet car that Q has made some nice gadgets for, an Aston Martin V8 Volante Series II, a convertible that was fitted with a hardtop for the movie, which was actually an Aston Martin V8 Vantage Series II 1986-1989.
